2011 Club Captain .... Gareth Dutton

Vice Captain .... Bryan Glendinning

Looking forward to 2012!!

Some say the best putter in the club, others may disagree. It was a great pleasure to be asked by Gareth to be his vice captain this year, and look forward to being the club captain in 2012. I hope you will give me the same support you have given Gareth this year, and most importantly looking forward to the Captain and Pro matches, get your challenges in early. I spend a lot of time at the golf club, my wife says to long sometimes, I have seen Eden getting better and better each year, and with County matches being planned for 2012 it shows we are up there with the rest of the clubs in the area. I look forward to meeting you all in March when I drive in. Any suggestions you may have regarding the club please don't hesitate to contact me either in person or by e-mail, looking forward to the year ahead.

Supplying your competition prize vouchers!!

I may turn 40 at the end of 2012, but my claim to fame is that I'm still the youngest person on the committee, some might say by a distance but I couldn't possibly comment. I have been a member at Eden since early 2006 and have been the Treasurer for the Men's Section since October 2009 after taking over from David Higham, so I'm the one who writes out your prize vouchers for the competitions, on that subject 75% of the entry fees you pay goes back to you in prize vouchers while the other 25% covers admin costs like the end of season trophies, voucher books, website hosting etc. None of the money from your entry fees for men's section competitions goes back into Eden Golf Club itself. Away from occasional three putting, getting annoyed in bunkers and moaning that the par fours, and a couple of the par fives actually if I'm being honest, are too long, I follow Carlisle United, in particular the youth team who I report on both for the club and for the fans' website that I have run for over six years now, CUFC Online. I live in Carlisle with her indoors and a Patterdale Terrier.

Being a golf volunteer is a tough life!!

Age is not important but I reckon to have played this great game for more than 50 years now. Starting at Grange Fell, Windermere, Kendal, Silverdale then 'up North' at Brampton and Eden. My handicap has ranged from 21 to 12 and I'm now comfortable in the middle at 17. Outside of Eden I work as a volunteer for the Cumbria Golf Union (CUGC) and the English Golf Union (EGU) assisting with marketing and development of our sport. I've been attached to the committee here since 2003 working hard in various roles and appear to 'moan' about everything, but those who know me well realise that it's all true.............!
